May 6th-Today, Kris and I left for our Babymoon. We planned our trip to San Francisco. The traveling was way harder and longer than expected. We almost missed our flight in KC and then our flight out of Denver was delayed. We didn't land until 10:45 in San Francisco. I found out the baby either hates or loves flying. On both flights, the baby would move like crazy on the descent. It was neat. I think he may have even had hiccups!! I did find that traveling is harder when pregnant. I was more irritable and tired. When we got to San Francisco, I was very surprised by how it looked. The city looks a lot like NYC and its dirtier than I thought. The hills aren't rolling as I thought they would be either. We will see once we can explore it in the day time.
May 7th- Today was our first day to explore San Francisco. Due to my pregnancy snoring, I kept Kris up all night so I woke up early to plan as he slept in. It was a rainy start to our trip but once Kris was awake we just took one thing at a time. Our first stop was finding a place to eat. We walked and found the rolling hills San Francisco. We knew right away we would be getting our workout each day. We found a small local place to eat brunch where we had delicious breakfast sandwiches. Then we rode a cable car to the cable car museum! We definitely looked like tourists as we were trying to catch the cable car but we finally found it and were able to ride it for a short ride. It was a neat experience to ride the cable car. We chose not to ride it again though because of the shakiness and crowding of the car (hard to do when you are pregnant). The cable car museum was very neat. Kris loved seeing and reading about how everything worked. After the museum, we walked through Chinatown to find a city bus. Chinatown in San Francisco is way different than Chinatown in NYC. We then rode a city bus to Ghirardelli Square. The square was very neat. It was full of quaint shops, tons of people, and all types of chocolate. From the square we walked down to the beach to see the sand and the view. We didn't expect to see the sand in San Francisco so it was neat to see. To finish off the day, we decided to start Kris' Bday celebration early by going to see Captain America Civil War. We found a local Alamo Drafthouse and decided to check it out. The area was a little sketchy but everyone looked nice in the area. We enjoyed true Mexican food and then headed to the movies. It was a nice relaxing first day of our trip.
May 8th-Kris' 29th Birthday! Our motto for the day: If it is planned, it will not work out. Kris and I planned to check out Muir Woods and the San Francisco bridge for Kris birthday. We were running a little later than planned and had to miss the last bus to Muir Woods. Since we missed the bus, we decided to find a nice place to eat. We found a cute sandwich place that looked yummy. We enjoyed fresh sandwiches and Kris was able to try a local beer to start his birthday off right. After lunch, we decided to find out way to the Golden Gate bridge. We accidentally got on the bus going the wrong way. We thought it was no problem that we would just get off and jump on going the right way. The bus ended up being delayed and we waited over 30 minutes. We tried a different route and then found out that public transportation was not working due to a huge accident. Instead we walked down to Fisherman's Wharf to check out the Pier, restaurants, and shops. We were able to enjoy the view and find a wonderful seafood restaurant to celebrate Kris' birthday. We headed in early to swim and plan for our last day.
Kris did get his free Starbucks :)
May 9th-Our last full day in San Francisco. We decided to make the most of our day. To make sure we saw everything, we bought a Big Bus tour and a tour to Muir Woods. We explored all the sites, relaxed in the woods, and finally saw the Golden Gate Bridge. We went ALL day long but it was very worth it. The weather was colder than expected so we tried to bundle as much as we could. Driving over the Golden Gate Bridge was the windiest thing I had ever experienced. We had to take off our glasses because we were worried they would fall off. It was crazy. The day was so amazing though. We made it back in time to soak our feet in the pool and head to bed for our early flight. That night I hadn't felt the baby all day and was so worried. I started talking to him and asked that he kick so I know he was okay. He kicked just enough so I could feel it. It could have been a coincidence but it was wonderful!
Kris and I were grateful we were able to celebrate and share a Babymoon together. We plan to enjoy all the trips we get to take with Baby Cunigan as well!
